LOST AND FOUND

Any lost or left items are the responsibility of the players and parents. However, you can check with the school’s lost and found department directly. You can also engage WCBA and Volunteer staff members during league play to determine if your lost items were found. Note, WCBA and volunteer staff members do not assume responsibility of any lost items.

PLAYERS CLINIC SCHEDULE: TBD

IS MY CHILD REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PLAYER’S CLINIC IF THEY HAVE ALREADY PLAYED WITH WCBA IN THE PAST?

No, it is not required, but strongly recommended, for returning players to go through the evaluation process. All new players must attend the Player’s Clinic  unless you are with a set team and will be in the highest division. The goal of the Player’s Clinic is to facilitate our ability in placing the players in a division with comparable level of play. This allows players to compete against others with skill levels comparable to their own which allows for better developmental opportunities and overall experience.

Please note that though it is our goal to create divisions with comparable skill levels, it will not always be possible. Let’s keep in mind that how we navigate our children through challenges will greatly help shape them in addressing any challenges with a positive/growth mindset.

Note, per the discretion of WCBA, we may choose to re-allocate teams to different divisions based on lopsided level of play after the season has started.

WHAT IF MY CHILD IS UNABLE TO ATTEND THE PLAYER’S CLINIC?

If your child is unable to attend the Player’s Clinic, WCBA will leverage the information you updated during the registration process to rate their skill level during our Player Draft and team placement. It is important that you input accurate information pertaining to the level of play and experience of your child to facilitate proper skill assessment and team placement for your child.

WHEN CAN I REGISTER?

Registration for Summer/Fall season starts in April.  Winter registration will start in October. Spring registration will start in March. Keep checking our website for updates as the date approaches.  Also, we encourage you to join our email distribution list and follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to stay informed throughout the year!

HOW DO I REGISTER?

Our registration is only completed online through our website. You can click on this link to REGISTER NOW.  You will need to upload an image of your player’s birth certificate and profile photo.  These items can be uploaded through our online registration process and will be secured and is considered privileged and private information that will not be shared outside of our association. This information will be used to help confirm grade level, age and division.

WHAT IS THE WCBA REFUND POLICY?

If you withdraw from the season before the player’s clinic and draft, we will withhold a service charge of $75. This is to prevent players from registering and then deciding not to play, which makes it administratively difficult to complete registration and add players from the wait-list.

If you withdraw after the Player’s clinic, we will withhold a service charge of $100.

If you withdraw after the Division teams are formed, there will be NO refund of fees. After teams are formed, and we have effectively waived wait-listed players, it is very difficult to balance teams-therefore, the penalty to withdraw is severe.

In certain circumstances (pre-season injury or made school team), we will waive the service charges and apply the full credit towards a future season.

DO I NEED TO CREATE A WCBA USER ACCOUNT AND DOWNLOAD SPORTS ENGINE TO REGISTER?

Yes, a user account is required to register a player with WCBA. Having a user account unlocks additional site functionality. In addition, it allows you to process any future registration quicker. You will want to download the PLAYBOOK SPORTS application which will allow you to communicate with your basketball community once rosters are completed, access your schedule, news articles, and more!

CAN MY CHILD PLAY UP OR DOWN A DIVISION?

Generally speaking your child can only play up one division if parent and coach agree, subject to approval by WCBA. A player cannot typically play down a grade level/division. Requests to play down a grade level must be approved by the league and would only be considered on a rare case by case basis. (e.g. age, low skill set or other condition we have accounted for.)

INAPPROPRIATE REGISTRATION OF YOUR CHILD INTO A LOWER GRADE LEVEL

Selecting a grade level/division during registration that is below the actual grade level your child will be during the season is not permissible (e.g. registering your child as a 6th grader for the 5th-6th grade division when your child is actually a 7th grader). On rare occasions WCBA will allow a child to play in a lower grade level/division but must receive direct approval from WCBA before registering in a lower division. In the event WCBA determines that a child has been registered inappropriately to a lower grade level/division before or during the season, WCBA will take the following actions:

  • Inform registrant that the issue has been identified
  • Inform the registrant that they will be removed from league play
  • Any game(s) the registrant played in will result in forfeiture
  • Registration fees are considered forfeited and no refunds will be processed.
  • At our discretion, we may consider banning any future league participation.
  • At our discretion, we may consider moving your child to a team in the appropriate grade level/division if there is room to accommodate your child but this action is NOT guaranteed.
  • The intent is to discourage and prevent unfair play and dishonest entry of a registration to gain advantages associated with playing with lower grade level players/division.

CAN I REQUEST MY CHILD TO PLAY WITH A SPECIFIC COACH?

Yes. However, both the parent and coach must mutually request each other during the registration process. Though WCBA will attempt to accommodate requests, we do not guarantee these requests. Note, your child is still expected to attend the Player’s Clinic to ensure that players and teams are placed in the proper division.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CHILD IS ON A SPECIFIC COACH’S TEAM?

After the Player’s Clinic, teams will be finalized and notifications will be sent by your Volunteer Coach or WCBA; ensure you have downloaded the Sports Engine app. Our goal is for you to be notified of your player’s team placement within 2 weeks of the Player’s Clinic.

IS THERE A MULTIPLE CHILD DISCOUNT?

Yes, you will receive $10 off for each child in the family.

WHAT IS A PLAYER WAIT LIST?

Once the capacity is reached based on the numbers of coaches and teams we have, the remaining registrations will be considered wait-listed. Any selected Volunteer Coaches that have a child on the wait list will automatically have priority to be taken off the wait list completely, or at minimum will be moved up to the top of the wait list.

PROHIBITED UNREGISTERED PLAYER PARTICIPATION

Having an unregistered player(s) participate in any WCBA game(s) or event(s) is strictly prohibited; the team with an unregistered player will automatically forfeit any game(s) the unregistered player(s) participated in. In addition, WCBA may take further disciplinary action that is deemed necessary.

IS WCBA A CO-ED LEAGUE?

Yes, WCBA is a co-ed basketball league. Girls and Boys in the same grade level will be placed in the same division.

ARE DIVISIONS BASED ON AGE OR GRADE LEVEL?

Grade level not age will determine division seeding.

WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM GRADE RANGE FOR THE DIVISIONS?

The divisions are based on the following:

9th-12th grade

7th-8th grade

5th-6th grade

3rd-4th grade

WHERE DO YOU PLAY? I’M LOOKING FOR A BASKETBALL LEAGUE NEAR ME.

Our goal is to serve the youth community throughout Sacramento. See our locations below.

UNIFORM SIZING CHART

UNIFORM PURCHASE POLICY

  • Fully reversible
  • High quality sublimated! (no iron on numbers)

Each player is required to have a WCBA uniform prior to league play. Uniforms cost $50 (shorts and jersey) and are owned by the player once payment is received.  See below for additional details:

New Players:  New players are required to purchase a uniform set when registering.
Returning Players:  Returning players may reuse their uniforms or purchase new uniforms (e.g. if need bigger size, or set was lost)

UNIFORM REDESIGN POLICY

WCBA will have a redesign of uniforms once every 1-2  years starting in the Fall 2022 season.

DUPLICATE NUMBER POLICY

Each team must have unique jersey numbers. In the event there is a duplicate number, WCBA  will facilitate correcting the issue prior to league play.

Priority for jersey number assignments will be based on your player’s seniority in our basketball association. In the event players have participated in a equal number of seasons/years, WCBA will determine the number assignment randomly.

Note, WCBA will determine jersey number allocations at our discretion when any conflicts exist.

UNIFORM USE

Full WCBA Uniforms (jersey & shorts) must be worn to all regular season, playoff and All-Star games.

Uniforms are reversible, one side is dark, the other side is white.

  • The WHITE side of the jersey is the official “home” uniform.
  • The DARK side of the jersey is the official “visitor” uniform.

UNIFORM CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Your uniform may last several seasons if properly cared for. Failure to do so may result in a need for uniform replacement. Please use these recommendations while washing/drying the uniform sets:

  • Machine wash cold
  • Wash with like colors
  • Do not use Fabric Softer, it may cause printed cloth patterns to separate from material.
  • Do not use chlorine bleach, as the chance of color separation and the weakening of some material is increased
  • Hang drying is recommended
  • Do not dry clean
  • Do not iron
